By the end of June, it looked like another lost season for the New York Mets.  Coming off of a 7 game losing steak and falling to 14.5 games back in the division by mid-July.  But then something unexpected happened at the trade deadline.  Mets brass showed they still believed when they became buyers instead of sellers.  And that’s when the tide started to turn.  With the addition of Marcus Stroman, the Mets now flexed one of the most formidable rotations in all of baseball.  The team chemistry started to gel and the Metropolitans were finally making some noise.  They won 15 of 16 games from June 25th to July 10th and were now a force to be reckoned with.

With the crosstown rival Yankees sitting at the top of their division, is it now possible for them to meet the Mets in the World Series?  That all depends on the Mets who will need to stay on track after dropping their last 2 games and losing one of baseball’s best hitters in Jeff McNeil to the injured list.  Can they overcome?  Will they overcome?  They are right in the thick of things being only 2 games back in the wild card race with 43 games left to be played.  That said, will we see our first Subway Series World Series since 2000?  Only time will tell.
